Polo Chic

Hope everybody had a relaxing weekend...my boyfriend and I went to a polo match here in Santa Barbara and had a blast. We sipped Veuve Cliquoet and cheered on the players, but most of all I was enthralled with the polo fashion! I missed the memo about the big floppy hats and was wishing I had one for the event! So for my next polo event I will be sporting this...

Weekend Inspiration

What are you lovely girls up to this weekend? Saturday I am off to Amelia's first birthday and Sunday Tim has a fun date planned, however I don't think it will include formal wear while dancing on cabs like this picture! Nevertheless I can't wait to see what he has up his sleeve!

A Tip from My Mother

One of my favorite things to do is to share style tips with my mom, the both of us glued to the new pages of Instyle and indulging in new trends. Her favorite thing to say is " can I wear this? or what is in style..." these questions I always have an answer for! I also have her hooked on Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer which in my book is every girls go-to product. I also taught her the importance of "primer" which helps your make-up stay on all day and gives you that glow. However you add up the price of the primer $30 and tinted moisturizer $40 and that is alot of money to paint the barn door! All that money to look like you aren't wearing make-up! Well the other day my mom shared advice with me and said she found a primer by Sally Hansen for $9.99 and it is exactly like Lauras. I didn't believe her until I tried it myself, I am sold for 9.99! Thanks mom, now you are going to be giving me style advice and beauty tips!

It's Official..Fall is Here

This is the first week of fall and I couldn't be more excited! I love the changing of seasons and the sounds of leaves crunching under your feet, wrapped up in layers and cuddled up next to the fire. However it is about 80 degress here in Santa Barbara so for now I will have to dream about fall clothes until the weather changes so I can wear them.

Item of the Week

I first heard about TOMS shoes when I worked in the surf industry about 3 years ago, the reps came in an old school airstream bus and showed me the video of what the company was about...instantly I fell in love with their mission statement. For every shoe they sell they give a pair away to a child who needs a pair. Learn more about TOMS shoes here www.tomsshoes.com. The shoes are comfortable and look great with a pair of jeans. Plus you are doing a good deed! So find out where the local retailer is for TOMS and buy a pair!

Autumn Leaves

I have been obsessed with the rugged looks of distressed denium and the clean cut look of a collared shirt.

Fall Inspiration

I stumbled across this Swedish company and loved their philosophy for their fall campaign.. " a casual lifestyle of natural, simplicity, quality, personality and innovation." Marc O'Polo is a Swedish designer who captures the balance of fall with chunky sweaters and pulled together blazers.

Tweed and Chiffon

Thick nubby menswear tweed meets floaty feminine chiffon. I love the marriage between the two. Tweed to me represents fall, its thickness in texture reminds of the cold to come. The lightness and delicate nature of chiffon is it's perfect mate. Here are a few examples of some of the fabulous tweed out there and the perfect mate to compliment it!

Item of the Week

Each week I will be posting an item of the week that I can't live without...it can be anything from the latest trends in fashion to the best lipstick! This week's pick is the Diaphanous tunic from Anthropologie ($88) This fabulous tunic can be worn with some distressed jeans and a great pair of flat boots to give this look a rugged romantic look. Or for a more polished look you can wear this tunic tucked into a great pair of wool trousers. My favorite part of this blouse is the raw edges mixed with the feminine ruffles. A cami and some chunky earrings would complete the outfit.
