Layering- a girl's best friend

Layering is key when you are in between seasons. When it comes to layering I feel like J.crew are the masters. I like the subtle mix of pastels and the feminine ruffles of the tank. Notice how she is wearing an over the shoulder bag, another key item for spring!

Weekend Planning

This weekend we are in full wedding planning mode, trying to find a place and then hopefully we can take a break after we find it, this planning stuff isn't for the weak in spirit. All the details and options are overwhelming but determined to tackle this weekend.... notebook in hand!!

How much do love this trench coat!! It is the perfect staple for those spring showers! Have a lovely weekend!

Handbags- A Must Have for Spring

Whether you are having an ugly day or a bad outfit day one thing that can always make you feel great is a handbag! Trend reports from Vogue and Elle say the biggest trend for handbags this spring is the satchel, tote and over the shoulder bag. These bags are the perfect blend of fashion meets functionality! Louie Vuitton and other high end bag designers are inspired by the crispness of white and using a lot of white leather for a fresh take on handbags. Louie Vuitton was inspired by different materials, antique design, animal fur and Indian tassel decorations. Of course I had to choose my favorites from Anthropologie and came up with these!! Which one is your favorite?

Perfect Spring Transition

If you haven't noticed blazers, jackets and stripes are taking over the runway for spring! Here is my take on some of the fabulous trends going on right now. I love the detailing of this jacket, the green is a nice in-between color for spring and the flower detail makes my heart swoon. The Michael Star tee is a great basic and makes for a lovely layering piece for any outfit. The boyfriend denim is a must for spring and brings together a casual outfit but still walking out the door pulled together! It may be raining outside, but it doesn't matter to me because spring is here and I am ready for the transition!

Stripes!!!

My friend Dianne just got back from Paris and says stripes are everywhere for spring and was excited to see how Anthropologoie interprets the new trend. Well needless to say they got the memo! I have been styling stripes for months, frankly I am starting to go cross-eyed looking at all of them. Yet they still find their way into my heart because I own 5 different types of striped shirts! Dianne no need to wait, they already ran with the trend!

Marie Claire shares insight on how to wear stripes.....

"When paired with the right pieces, stripes can really enhance your figure and keep you looking up-to-date. On the runways this season, designers were mixing wide and thin stripes or pairing stripes with florals; such matchups generally don't work for day-to-day looks. The key to wearing stripes in the real world is to always wear just one print matched with a solid. For example, a vertically striped blouse looks great with white trousers or jeans. Vertically striped pants or skirts can make you look taller and in style when worn with a solid-colored tee. For dresses, avoid horizontal stripes that widen your shape -- unless you have a boyish figure and need to create some curves." -MC

Whimsical

Dark shadows and soft pinks and greys! January can bring dark clouds but spring is right around the corner with it's delicate shades of pink, I love mixing the two colors!

Wedding Inspiration-Rustic Meets Elegant

I promise I am not going to turn my blog into a wedding blog but I spent the weekend flipping through magazines, hours on blogs and dreaming with my fiance and my mind couldn't help but start to be inspired. My New Friend

Working at Anthropologie you get to meet lots of people who love the same type of style you do, any chance I get to talk about my favorite things at Anthro I do! I met a darling lady the other week and ended up helping re-decorate her guest bedroom. It started with a new duvet but quickly is evolving into a lovely new room. I pulled some inspiration for her room and here it is...hope this helps Gail! Look forward to seeing you soon! Happy Decorating!!

This weekend has been a busy one! I got engaged! So sorry for the few posts I have been floating on a cloud! We decided to drive up highway 1 for some much needed R & R, I had thought of this weeks ago and didn't think twice about the day. We stopped in Cambria for tri-tip sandwiches and took pictures at Ragged Point. Tim gave me my first early birthday present and it was a travel coffee mug, and said we had to get going to the next location. I was wondering where the next location was since there is nothing from Ragged Point to Big Sur. Well we ended up driving to Big Sur and pulled into one of my favorite spots. A little rustic restaurant by the river. We had hot coco by the fire and then he told me to put it in the travel mug because we were going for a little walk. We walked down to the river where there was a bench and candles lit all around it. There he had me open a second present...a tripod, not exactly what I was expecting. He began to set it up and take pictures and I didn't know he hit record, as he began to give me my next present. The next present was a photo album of us from the last two years and the last page was paper clipped shut. Then he preceded to tell me some beautiful wonderful things that my heart will never forget and he opened the last present for me which was a long stemmed rose with a ring in it. The last pages were pictures of him asking my dad! Needless to say I said yes and am marrying the love of my life,my best friend,my encourager and supporter!
