A Vintage Christmas

One of my favorite things about Christmas is getting the tree and decorating it. I love how the house feels warm and inviting. The house is filled with the smell of pine and sparkles in lights! This year we have gotten some pretty vintage ornaments at Anthropologie and since it is the season of giving I am going to give one away this week.
Leave a comment below to share your favorite holiday memory, and the best holiday memory will win this ornament!

  1. I will never forget the Christmas of my 2nd grade year. I remember seeing these giant teddy bears at KMART with my mom and wanted one. For the actual Christmas holiday, we had gone to visit my grandparents in another state and came home late at night. When we came inside, and my mom turned on the lights, there under the tree were those giant teddy bears. It also turned out to be our last Christmas with my grandmother, as she died the following year. I had that teddy bear well into my high school years. It was probably the most special Christmas I remember.

  2. My memory was the year we announced we were expecting our first baby. We put up a tiny stocking above the fireplace and waited for Grandma to notice, but we had to point it out to her, and it took her a while to realize what it meant. Gifts that year from my hubby were maternity clothes and a rocking chair! 28 years later, still have the rocking chair.

  3. My best memory of Christmas was the first Christmas after I married Stephen. We were standing by the tree with Devon, she was 6, and she grabbed our hands and we sang a song about Christmas and twirled around and around. Then she asked if Stephen would always be her Daddy. Precious. (Devon, don't put me in the pool for the ornament) =)

  4. My favorite holiday memory is when I was about 6 years old; My grandmother took my sister and I Christmas shopping, separately , so that we could buy each other a gift. On my own, I picked out my sister (who was 10 at the time) a fuzzy teddy bear with a scarf and hat, and I was super excited to give it to her. On Christmas, we finally started opening up our gifts and when I opened the gift my sister picked out for me, it was the exact same fuzzy teddy bear with a scarf and hat! My grandmother got such a kick out watching us pick our the same gift for each other:)

  5. December 24, 2003. I can feel Josh's heart beating rapidly against mine. I try to pay no attention to it and just get on with the day. It is raining, my favorite kind of day, we get dressed and off on a scavenger hunt (I have never been on one!) I open the first clue... we go to Margo Dodd park where our first date was. I open the second clue, its a book- I open the first page, "My heart, my life, my love" I skip a few more pages, "My wife" and set in the book is my engagement ring. Josh gets on one knee and asks me to marry him, I am crying and can't even answer yes. It was unforgetable, I can still feel him holding me, me shaking, so excited! That is one of the best memories... besides having my kids'first Christmas and the year I got Josh Heelies and he almost fell and broke a bone!
